These homeowners had a nice size deck, but rarely used it due to the lack of shade and abundance of mosquitoes! An uncovered deck in Central Virginia can often be more of a curse than a blessing. They decided to convert the deck into a screened porch that would extend the usability of the space.
Deep Run Renovations created a nicely sized 18 x 20 screened porch with an adjacent 12 x 8 deck for grilling. Design details, like decorative lattice, a pediment feature on the gable and the use of both PVC and wood products on the railings, elevated the design into a classy outdoor space. This project will forever be immortalized in our minds as we were standing on the elevated deck, having just completed the project, when a 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit a mere 30 miles from us. Neither a human scratch nor damaged building material was to be discovered. The homeowners are still enjoying this space and the fact that we were able to provide earthquake testing at no additional cost!
